Place the parachute flat on the floor. Get the children to draw a circle round the edge with chalk.

Keeping it within the chalk mark, the children fold the circle in half. They chalk in the diameter line. They then fold the parachute again. And again draw in the new line of the newly made edge. The teacher encourages the children to identify the half, quarter, eighth and sixteenth of the circle.

Get the children to stand or sit within the chalk marks so that half the children are in the half section, quarter of the children are in the quarter section and so on.
