Within the KS2 Information and Communication Technology section children have the ability to learn about communicating information via word processing, through art and music, via email and websites and by using presentation software such as PowerPoint.
Handling Information is an important ICT skill so this area helps children to learn by using graph packages, databases, spreadsheets, the internet and CD ROMs. Children studying at Key Stage 2 level are able to develop and test their knowledge of handling information through interactive activities, printable resources and online quizzes.
Communicating Information is also an important element of KS2 ICT. Within this area children can find step-by-step instructions to help develop their word-processing and keyboard skills. They can also learn how art and music can help to communicate information through a number of interactive activities. There are instructions on how to develop a website and send an email as well as activities to help children plan and create a multimedia presentation.
Within the Control & Monitoring area children are able to learn about programmable devices, take part in a number of interactive Logo (control program) activities, develop their control skills and understand how sensing and data logging devices are used.
There are several adventure games and simulations to help children understand the Modelling aspects of KS2 ICT. These include an interactive boat rescue simulator, a garden design activity, an interactive maze and a race track building game.
The resources and activities in the KS2 Information and Communication Technology section are in an interactive, online, or printable format that brings a differing dynamic to the subject for children studying ICT at Key Stage 2.
