The main areas within the section cover Local History, British History, European History and World History, all suitable for children studying History at Key Stage 2 level.
Within Local History children are able to find out about English Heritage, learn about the history of places in the UK and discover how to find out more about various local history topics suitable for KS2 learning.
The British History area looks closely at the Anglo Saxons, Romans, Tudors, Vikings, Victorians, Kings & Queens and British Prime Ministers. Also covered is Britain since 1930, including the effects of World War Two, famous men and women, architecture and technology & transport.
Within the European History area children are able to learn about Ancient Greece and develop their understanding and knowledge of art & architecture, famous men and women, maps, plans & places, myths & legends, trade & industry and religion. There is also an overview of Medieval Europe and an online activity about the legend of William Tell, ideal for those learning History at KS2 level.
The World History area focuses on Ancient Egypt, Ancient Sumer, Assyrian Empire, Indus Valley, The Maya, Benin and The Aztecs. Through interactive games, puzzles, quizzes and activities, children at Key Stage 2 level can gain a greater understanding of important events, everyday life during these periods and factors such as art & architecture and trade & technology.
The General History area of this Key Stage 2 History section covers all other historical issues including Chronology, Explorers, Families, Famous British Battles, Famous People and Museums. Children are able to enhance their understanding of most historical topics, ranging from what people ate to how houses have changed through history.
The resources and activities in the KS2 History section are in an interactive, online, or printable format that brings a differing dynamic to the subject for children studying at Key Stage 2.
