Children are encouraged to learn about Communicating Information in various ways such as via word-processing, art and music. They are able to develop simple word-processing skills such as copying and pasting text, learning the letters on a keyboard and practicing typing.
Handling Information is an important ICT skill so this area helps children to learn by using graph packages, databases and the Internet.
Within the Control area children are able to learn about programmable devices, take part in a number of interactive Logo (control program) activities and develop their control skills.
There are several simulations to help children understand the Modelling aspects of KS1 ICT. These include an interactive jigsaw puzzle, an interactive disguise game, interactive ‘dress a girl´ and ‘dress a baby´ games and several model projects for children to make a bee, chick, face or space alien.
The resources and activities in the KS1 Information and Communication Technology section are in an interactive, online, or printable format that brings a differing dynamic to the subject for children studying ICT at Key Stage 1.
