The General History section includes a Chronology area which helps children of Key Stage 1 age to learn about the passing of time using activities such as an interactive timeline of illnesses over the years and an interactive food timeline to help children learn about what people ate throughout history.
Children are able to find out about ‘Ourselves and our Families´ through interactive activities about growing up in different eras and the differences in clothing throughout history.
They are also able to look at The Way of Life in Britain by examining all aspects of history such as toys, transport, houses, clothing and the ways in which each of these has changed over the years.
The Famous Men and Women area helps children at Key Stage 1 to learn about famous explorers such as Christopher Columbus and Marco Polo; famous writers including Roald Dahl and Shakespeare; artists such as Van Gogh and other famous inventors, scientists, rulers and heroes who have all made a significant impact throughout history.
Children are also introduced to some important Past Events including The Great Fire of London and The Gunpowder Plot and are able to learn about the significance and history of Remembrance Day.
The resources and activities in the KS1 History section are in an interactive, online, or printable format that brings a differing dynamic to the subject for children studying at Key Stage 1.
