Parachute Activities

Sharks

For this game children stand around the edge of the parachute holding it at waist height.

A child or children then moves under the parachute with their hands above their heads in a fin shape so that it can be seen under the parachute.

The shark or sharks move around under the parachute and gently grabs the knee of one of the children standing around the edge.

The person who has been grabbed screams and disappears under the parachute and becomes a shark. This continues until everyone is eaten.

This game can start with one shark and other sharks join as the game progresses.

Whilst the sharks are moving around, the other children shake the parachute up and down gently.

The teacher may need to agree a sound or word that tells everyone the game is over, especially when there are many sharks.

One change to the game could be for the sharks to change places with the person they touch, this avoids overcrowding under the parachute.
