Space Journey
This is a call and response game. The game begins with the players inside the parachute like a Tent (the spaceship). They are lying on their backs with their legs up the side of the parachute ready for blast off. COUNTDOWN 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 everyone is pinned against the floor. The spaceship passes through the Earths atmosphere everyone shakes . The spaceship passes into orbit prepare for space walk everyone turns over and crawls out of the Tent into space in slow motion players walk about as though they are weightless. Prepare for landing Players crawl back under the parachute they lie flat on their backs the spaceship lands with a jolt. Players crawls out of the parachute and on to the top. They are now on the surface of the moon everything is done in slow motion. The leader throws popcorn balls onto the surface and tells the players to find a piece of moon rock to take back to earth. To return the Earth, players mushroom the parachute and get back into the spaceship as a Tent ready for blast off and the countdown happens again. After re-entry players get to the edge and make a mushroom and allow it to fall gently to earth where they all roll away as though they have landed in the sea. Another version of this game is when each player is a rocket journeying through space. The parachute becomes in turn each of the planets which they pass. The rockets land on the planet to discover more about them. The leader should have three facts about each planet ready for when the rockets land. When passing Saturn the players form rings around the surface. Popcorn balls are thrown into the air to simulate a meteorite storm. Players crouch with hands over their heads. One player travelling in the opposite direction acts as a comet. |
